How to install a datapack

A datapack is a set of data for a world: recipes, functions, generation. No loader needed — it works in vanilla.

TipFor a new world you can add datapacks while creating it: Create World → Data Packs.
1

Download the datapack

On the datapack page choose your game version and click Download — you'll get a .zip.

2

Open the world folder

In game: Singleplayer → select the world → Edit → Open World Folder. There's a datapacks folder inside.

%appdata%\.minecraft\saves\<world>\datapacks
3

Put the archive into datapacks

Put the .zip as is, don't unpack it.

4

Reload the world

Enter the world or run /reload. Check with /datapack list.

Where the .minecraft folder is

SystemPath
Windows%appdata%\.minecraft
macOS~/Library/Application Support/minecraft
Linux~/.minecraft
