This datapack adds an input tracker that displays which inputs the player is currently pressing. The input tracker can be crafted with an observer and 4 gold ingots:

When held in the player's hand or offhand, the item will display directly facing the player for easier readability: 
This project was primarily created to show off user controls for my Enchanted Elytra datapack, but I figured I might as well share it here.

Install Fabric for your Minecraft version, download Input Viewer for the same version and loader, put the file into the mods folder and launch the game with the loader profile.
