Install on the server only; players don't need it

Game versions1.21–26.3

NoMobSpawn is a lightweight Fabric mod that allows you to completely block specific mobs from spawning in your world.

Client-compatible

Only for singleplayer/local worlds!

  • Singleplayer & LAN: Install the mod into your client's mods folder, and it will work perfectly in your worlds.
  • Joining other servers: If you connect to third-party servers, the mod will harmlessly sit in the background. It will not cause crashes and will not prevent you from joining any servers.

For which server types

The mod is Server-Side. This means it is compatible with all types of Fabric-based servers:

  • Local hosts
  • Public and Private Servers
  • Key Advantage: Players joining your server DO NOT need to install this mod. It functions entirely on the server side.

Config location

Only modify this file if you know what you are doing!
Settings are saved per-world at: .../[world_folder]/nomobspawn/nomobspawn.json

Core Mod Commands

⚠️ Note: By default, all commands from this list are available only to players with permission level 3 (Admin) and higher. There are 5 permission levels in total (0-4). [Configurable parameter]

  • /nomobspawn [mob_ID] - adds a mob to the blacklist
  • /nomobspawn remove [mob_ID] - removes a mob from the blacklist
  • /nomobspawn list - displays the list of blocked mobs
  • /nomobspawn list clear - completely clears the blacklist of blocked mobs
  • /nomobspawn all - disables all mob spawning
  • /nomobspawn all clear - disables the global spawn block for all mobs
  • /nomobspawn mob remove - removes mobs from the blocklist within the current loaded area
  • /nomobspawn favorite [mob_ID] - adding a mob to favorites
  • /nomobspawn favorite remove [mob_ID] - removing a mob from favorites
  • /nomobspawn favorite list - show favorites list
  • /nomobspawn favorite list clear - clear favorites list
  • /nomobspawn mob autoremove on/off - enables or disables automatic removal of prohibited mobs in areas loaded by players

Permission Setup Commands

⚠️ Note: All commands from this list are available only to players with permission level 4 (Owner).

  • /nms perm get - displays the current global permission level
  • /nms perm set <0-4> - sets the required global permission level for the core mod commands
  • `/nms perm player set <0-4>` - sets an individual permission level for a player
  • `/nms perm player get ` - displays the player's current individual permission level
  • `/nms perm player remove ` - resets the player's individual permission level. The global permission level will apply afterward
Memo for "/nms perm player set"

If a player's permission level is equal to or higher than the global permission level, they can use /nomobspawn commands. Players with permission level 4 can also use /nms commands to manage permissions. ⚠️Warning:

  • If you lower your permission level below level 4, you will lose access to all /nms commands.
  • If your permission level drops below the global level, you will lose access to all commands in this mod entirely.
  • You will only be able to restore your permissions through the configuration file or via another player with a sufficient permission level!

Notes

By default, a local world also acts as a server. This means you have the maximum permission level and can use all commands.

When playing on a multiplayer server, you must have the required permission level to use commands. Please consult the server owner for details.

This mod works with most modded mobs. If a specific mob does not appear in the command suggestion list, you can still type its ID manuall, use the format `:<mob_id>`.
